Find us nestled between artist studios and quirky boutiques on The Old High Street in Folkestone.

We are a small company but have big ambitions. Based in the heart of Folkestone’s buzzing Creative Quarter we are nourished by a thriving community. Our dedicated team of local people work to produce exceptional coffee, served in the Coffee House to thousands of people each week.

Our walls are lined from top to bottom with poetry and local literature, classics and coffee table hardbacks. The books are for browsing and are for sale. Our customers are welcome to take them off the shelves and read them during their visit. Steep Street is a hub for lively conversation, meetings, reading, writing and entertaining.

All of this fuelled, of course, by our speciality coffee, seasonal savouries, patisserie and a good deal of our famous homemade cake. We don’t have a menu. We change our food daily to ensure it is fresh, inventive and tasty. Our carefully selected offering always includes gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options.

All of what we sell is made on the premises using nutritious, wholesome ingredients. We use free range RSPCA assured eggs and our tea is Fairtrade. We source our Single Origin coffees from co-operatives that support the communities that produce the beans. Our Single Estate coffees can be traced back to individual farms and growers. But a great cup of coffee depends on many people. To ensure we realise the full potential of each bean we invest in training our enthusiastic team in Kent. 

We do everything we can to lessen our impact on the environment while keeping our products affordable. Our House Blend is Rainforest Alliance certified. As a business, 0% of our waste ends up in landfill and in the Coffee House we only use compostable Vegware cups. Our retail coffee is packaged in compostable bags and if you order from us online or take away, you will receive your goods in compostable packaging.
